All car insurance may seem overpriced, but you’ll be able to fetch a cheap deal if you take some time to be a smart shopper. You’ve watched the commercials and you’ve listened to the promises. Now get an unbiased view of all car insurance companies — and some of the genuine ways to save money.
Step 1: Go online
Compare auto insurance quotes online. Many more people these days are searching for quotes on the internet, without phoning around to talk to an agent. The percentage of consumers who look online for car insurance is increasing each year. Why? Because people recognize that they can save hundreds or thousands of dollars by comparing all car insurance companies — and it’s simple to do. It’s easy to buy a policy online, as well. Just be sure to do some research first. Get online quotes from all car insurance providers — including Progressive, Geico, Allstate, State Farm and Liberty Mutual. These are more or less the biggest names but feel free to get quotes from others. Compare all car insurance coverage and insurance premiums to see what works out best for you and your budget.
Step 2: Ask for a multi-line discount
Do you have an existing type of insurance now? Most people have at least one insurance policy — whether it’s life, health, homeowners, business, a renters insurance policy or whatever. You can receive a discount if you have more than one policy through an insurer. This is often called a “multi-line discount”.
