Local Discounts with LivingSocial's Daily Deals

Local discounts rule with LivingSocial's Daily Deals!

If you haven’t jumped on the local discounts bandwagon, what are you waiting for? Recently, there’s been a proliferation of social buying sites on the web — so many to choose from — and I don’t know about you, but I’m loving every minute of it. The more local discounts in our lives, the merrier.

Just days ago, I wrote a post about the social buying site DealOn (in which I reference  local discounts site Groupon) and now I’m giving a shout-out to Daily Deals, a similar program presented by LivingSocial that features daily local discounts. (Keep ‘em comin’, I say …)

LivingSocial’s Daily Deals currently offers local discounts for the following 14 cities: New York, Atlanta, Raleigh-Durham, Austin, San Diego, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Washington, DC. They’re adding more cities in the future, so if you don’t see yours on this list, rest assured … it’s only a matter of time before your hometown gets local discounts via Daily Deals.

Each social buying site is a little different, so you’ll need to take note of how the individual programs work before signing up. Collective buying sites like Groupon provide local discounts — that’s the gist of it — but they have slightly differing terms (read: marketing strategies) to make themselves stand out. Here’s how LivingSocial’s Daily Deals works:

After signing up with your email address, LivingSocial sends you one deeply discounted deal per day that you can use at local retailers. Purchase the daily deal with a simple click and you receive your deal the next business day. After you buy the deal, you’ll get a unique link to share. This works like a referral link. If three people buy the deal using your link, then your deal is free.

LivingSocial’s Daily Deals program may sound complicated, but it really isn’t. You still get great local discounts, regardless — you just score a free bonus if three friends buy the same deal with your link. Sweet! (Don’t local discounts RULE?)
