One of my admittedly geeky hobbies is searching online for useful free PDF documents that I can read offline. Some people don’t like to read books or other literature on their computers, but I do. Imagine how it thrilled me to find a just-released 172-page consumer guide, published by the United States federal government. Uncle Sam occasionally comes through with decent free stuff. And this handbook is just in time for tax season!
Just visit the Consumer Action Website [Federal Citizen Information Center] to get your copy. On the top of the home page, there’s a link to the PDF version; if you have a decent internet connection, it will take only seconds to download. If you prefer the old-school printed version, sent by mail, you can order up to 10 free handbooks using the online order form.
Be sure to check out the related materials, like supplemental fact sheets, also available as free PDF downloads. For example, there’s a sample complaint letter that you can adapt to your needs. Click on the Consumer Topics section and you’ll find an entire directory of tips and tools, based on the vast array of subjects covered by the handbook.
For a piece of “government work”, this publication is pretty awesome. It covers everything from banking and identity theft to health care and employment. And it’s not just financial advice. It’s a comprehensive guide to life, in general. Grab yours today!
LOL! I thought I was the only geek that liked reading PDF’s online. Can’t wait to download my copy.
Thanks!
